| Bio: | i really do love videogames more than most things in life. everything can be thought of in terms of videogames also. most videogames imitate life anway, so that makes it much easier to translate. but i was eating some toast with grape jelly and sitting here thinking about women. Women are always the ones to be saved in the early life of video games (Metroid excluded, but that chick had to be a dyke). Why? Are gamers in general just not able to find/save/rescue their objects of affection in real life? is that why we have to go and do it in a simulation? Or are the videogame makers understanding that sex is the ultimate selling point, so if you place it into the character's head that the damsel is their love object, then of course when she's rescued she's going to put her legs in the air for the one that gets there first, and gamers would like to think about those kinds of things. now all that there is just shit that sorta fell out of my head as i was trying to get to this point: Super Mario Bros. is a metaphor for dating in life. Give it a second to set in. There's a girl. She's a princess, and you can take that as a Man's feeling towards the girl of their dreams, they're always put on pedastals. so you go through all the trials it takes. dodging bullets, beating up on goumba's, and all the while collecting money, because face it... chicks dig the cash. you make your way deeper into the levels and zones, or in our case you get to know the girl better, and you know if you get hit/make one false move, you'll die and have to start all over again. and then you're in the castle, you take the place of the lizard that was keeping her captive, obviously her ex-boyfriend that still has influence over her in her head and you take that place and proudly plant your flag. and then it hits you. your princess is in a different castle. isn't that the way it fucking goes??? i mean, if you find your princess then the game is over, end of discussion, but it's not over. you have to keep searching, keep trying to find something that will work. use the warp to level 4 to get ahead. and of course you spend time with your Hammer Bros. and you're going along with your friends, who dress the same as you except for a different color or shade that they like more. and you see some really cool shit along the way. all to just find the girl that's going to want you and love you and be with you happily ever after. you just need to keep it out of your head that by the time you do find her, she's probably sucked a whole lot of Lizard Cock. Now, obviously the game is very pessimistic since at the end when you do find your princess they make you START ALL OVER. But maybe that's less of a comment on dating, and more of a realization that once you do find the girl that it isn't over. Many games would just stop there and say that "Hey, have fun fucking her, you deserve it, it'll all be great from now on" But SMB lets you know that the game doesn't end. You're going to be tempted by other girls, and you're going to have to work at keeping the one you have found, the relationship between you and your princess can be characterized by this second world. How can i tell? because you're still collecting money. You're still dealing with all the same bullshit that you had to deal with before. And what helps you along your way? Mushrooms and Plants. Drugs man, Fucking Drugs. Shrooms and Pot are whats going to get you through it. you need to feel big, brave, and invincible to make it. even the 1-up's are mushrooms of a different color. If you can do something good today, and it makes you and others happy, don't wonder if you can still do it tomorrow, because tomrrow may never come. Don't save up things for later, because later might be too late. There are always a million reasons not to do something. There's always "what if this happens?", or "in the past, that didn't work", or "you won't be able to do that forever". Nothing is forever. Life isn't forever.
